Datalog employees are of paramount importance. Their health and safety demands at least the same degree of attention and emphasis as that placed on our mainstream activity, which encompasses quality, efficiency, proficiency, environment and financial awareness. We also recognize our responsibility for the health and safety of others who may be affected by our activities. It is our aim to achieve a working environment, which is free from work related accidents and ill health, and to this end we will pursue continuing improvements from year to year. We undertake to discharge our statutory duties by:
- Identifying hazards in the workplace, assessing the risks relating to them and implementing appropriate preventive and protective measures;
- Providing and maintaining safe plant and work equipment;
- Providing the necessary personal protective equipment where appropriate to do so;
- Establishing and enforcing safe methods of work;
- Recruiting and appointing personnel who have the skills, abilities and competence commensurate with their role and level of responsibility;
- Operating a health and safety training program that will prepare all employees for potential hazards, together with appropriate prevention, protection and safe practice;
- Ensuring that tasks given to employees are within their skills, knowledge and ability to perform;
- Ensuring that technical competence is maintained through the provision of refresher training as appropriate;
- Ensuring that all officers and employees of the company are made aware, through training and effective communication, of their rights and responsibilities in meeting statutory and company obligations;
- Promoting awareness of health and safety and of good practice through the effective communication of relevant information;
- Furnishing the resources needed to meet these objectives;
Datalog encourages its employees to lead a healthy and drug free lifestyle and employs a stringent drug and alcohol policy in the workplace. All employees, on their part, are required to adhere to all company policies and are encouraged to contribute actively towards achieving a work environment that is free from accidents and ill health. Each individual is required to carry out their duties according to statutory requirements and company policy and to report any unsafe situations, acts or processes that they may witness.
Our health and safety policy will be reviewed annually to monitor its effectiveness and to ensure that it reflects changing needs and circumstances.
